Sheepview Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 I have a galaxy diesel tdi 1999. Which I am having difficulty starting. No sure if this is classed as a mk1 or mk2 model. The engine turns until the battery drains. My battery is only 5 months old. I have charged it several times and it seems ok for 2 days. Then it is flat again. The engine is turning, but not firing. Any helpful suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Quote
gregers Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 most likly a mk1. you havnt dropped your keys in the last few days have you, what is the little red light doing on the drivers door when you crank the engine? Quote
BrianH Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Mk1 - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-FORD-GALAXY-GHIA-X-AUTOMATIC-7-Seater-116302-miles-Very-Clean-/231760794891Mk2 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Galaxy-Tdi-Ghia-2005-6-Speed-7-Seater-/111829809455 Picking the first two ones with the front visible off ebay - headlights should let you know. And what Gregers says above - does it ever start or fail to start completely? Also if you have another key does that work? Edited November 21, 2015 by BrianH Quote
SilverBeast Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 Does it fire at all? ie fire and run for a second or so and then cut out? - this would be a a typical immobiliser issue which is what gregers is alluding to above. If you have dropped a remote key and it has come open (or you have changed your batteries) then it is possible the small black plastic PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) chip has fallen out. The car will not start without this. Quote
